In our second episode of the ACPNJ Student podcast, we interview Dr. Ranita Sharma, the internal medicine residency program director at Rutgers RWJMS. We talk about matching during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically on the challenges the pandemic poses on this years applicants compared to previous cycles and how to optimize your application and interview experience!

Dr. Ranita Sharma

Ranita Sharma, MD, MACP is the Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program and Chief of the Division of Education at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She serves as Executive Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine and holds the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine. Her clinical expertise is in the field of hospital medicine and her academic practice is based at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Dr. Sharma has been the recipient of local, regional and national awards recognizing her leadership abilities and pedagogic skills. She leads a team of expert educators, runs an innovative residency program and has successfully placed over 350 graduates into competitive fellowships, primary care careers and leadership positions in medicine. She was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Societies and awarded Mastership to the American College of Physicians. She is a member of the Master Educator Guild at Rutgers Biomedical health Sciences. She served as governor for the NJ ACP chapter and was subsequently recognized with the chapter’s Laureate Award. Her research interests include medical education and hospital medicine.

Podcast #4: A Day in the Life of an Internist – Episode 1 (Academic Hospitalist)

In this fourth podcast, the ACPNJ Student Committee begins a short series on a day in the life of an internist by exploring different career path opportunities. Today we will explore what is like to pursue a career as an Academic Hospitalist as two of our student members (Sahil Patel and Ali Harb) interview two of our NJ physician volunteers (Dr. James Prister and Dr. Jay Niak)
